#8 - left-handed fretless mountain banjo
This banjo was built in October and November 2021 at home in Herne Hill.
The neck and middle ring are cherry, with a walnut fingerboard. The front and back plates of the body are oak.
The nuts are bone and the skin is calfskin vellum, with an internal tension hoop made of PVC.
The strings are nylgut (Aquila ‘Classic’ 6B) and the tuning pegs are Leader planetary tuners. The bridge is maple and ebony, and the tailpiece is walnut – from the same piece as the fingerboard.
This banjo was built to commission.
